Nasa announced their plans to build a populated research station on the Moon. I don't know about anyone else, but this is one of the most exciting ideas I've heard in a long time. We are pushing the boundaries of our species' ability to survive by populating ever more hostile environments..

 When I read the announcement this morning, I was instantly transported to my  youth watching the Apollo space missions on TV. Research aside, this is cool!
